SCIENTIFIC FLOURICULTURE

project-3
Enhancing Farmer Income Through Scientific Flower Cultivation
The Scientific Floriculture initiative by Baba Laxmi Narayan Sewa Samiti (BLNSS) focuses on promoting modern and scientific methods of flower cultivation among rural farmers. By encouraging marigold farming with improved practices such as quality seed selection, proper spacing, and effective pest management, the project significantly increases productivity and profitability.
This initiative helps farmers tap into high-demand markets, especially during festive seasons, ensuring better returns and sustainable livelihoods.
The Assessment

  1. To promote scientific floriculture practices among rural farmers

  2. To increase crop yield through improved seeds, spacing, and pest management

  3. To enhance income generation through high-demand flower cultivation

  4. To support small and marginal farmers with sustainable farming techniques

  5. To leverage seasonal and festival market demand for better profitability

Implementation Strategy
BLNSS works closely with farmers to introduce scientific marigold cultivation practices. Training is provided on seed selection, land preparation, spacing techniques, irrigation, and pest control measures.

Farmers are guided to cultivate flowers on small plots ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 acres, making it accessible even for small and marginal landholders. The program also connects farmers with local markets to ensure timely sales, especially during peak demand seasons.
Sustainability and Future Scope
Scientific floriculture is a profitable and scalable agricultural activity that can be expanded across rural regions. With consistent demand for flowers in cultural, religious, and commercial events, farmers can ensure steady income.

The initiative has strong potential for diversification into other flower varieties and value-added products, further increasing income opportunities.
