Promoting Low-Cost, High-Return Livelihood Opportunities
The Mushroom Cultivation initiative by Baba Laxmi Narayan Sewa Samiti (BLNSS) focuses on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women and unemployed youth from marginalized communities. Mushroom farming is a low-investment, space-efficient activity that offers quick returns within a short production cycle.
Through training, starter kits, and market linkages, the project enables beneficiaries to generate regular income while adopting modern agricultural practices.
Project Objectives
1. To promote mushroom cultivation as a low-cost income-generating activity
2. To provide skill training to women and unemployed youth
3. To enable quick and sustainable income generation
4. To support small-scale entrepreneurship in rural areas
5. To strengthen market linkages for better product sales
Implementation Strategy
BLNSS identifies interested participants from marginalized communities and provides hands-on training in mushroom cultivation techniques, including bed preparation, hygiene practices, and harvesting methods.

Beneficiaries are also provided with starter kits to begin cultivation immediately. The program ensures market linkage support so that producers can sell their mushrooms efficiently and at fair prices.
Sustainability and Future Scope
Mushroom farming is a scalable and eco-friendly livelihood option that can be continued throughout the year. With proper training and market access, beneficiaries can expand their production and increase income over time.

The initiative has strong potential to grow into small enterprises and cooperatives, further strengthening rural economies.
